Some six hundred (600) bike enthusiasts from the provinces of Quezon, Batangas and Mindoro joined the “Unity Fun Ride” that was organized by the Southern Luzon Command in partnership with the Provincial COMELEC and PNP in Lucena City last 11 April 2010.
Led by LTC RUFINO G RAMORAN JR, Commander of the 4th Light Armor Battalion, Masigasig troopers heed the call and participated in the said invitational bike ride that aimed to promote honest, orderly and peaceful local and national elections this May 2010.
SOLCOM Grandstand was the assembly area of the event, which started at exactly 0600H. The Masigasig bikers pedalled as a pack and finished the 45-kilometer route (with three mandatory stops) in 2 hours and 15 minutes. The event culminated with the awarding of special awards to the best in bike – on road and off road; longest wheelie, youngest and oldest rider to finish and most disciplined and biggest contingents who participated in the event.
Though the group haven’t bagged any of the awards, theirs was only to participate for a purpose: to advocate and pedal for honest, orderly and peaceful elections.
Some of the participants.
The winner for the most beautiful off-road bike.
Our contribution to the organizing committee... Masigasigs manned one of the registration tables as early as 0400H. Go Masigasigs!
